Tannery Creek Systems Inc. is committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle information.
This Privacy Policy describes how Tannery Creek Systems Inc. ("Tannery Creek," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information in connection with:
This policy does not govern personal information (such as vehicle licence plate records) collected in the field through the autoChalk® platform on behalf of our customers. That data is owned and controlled by each individual customer organization. If you have questions about data collected during a parking enforcement event, please contact the municipality, property manager, or enforcement agency responsible for that program directly.
Tannery Creek Systems Inc. is a Canadian corporation incorporated under the laws of Ontario, with offices at:
160 Applewood Crescent, Unit 32
Vaughan, Ontario, L4K 4H2
Canada
We are the developer and manufacturer of the autoChalk® Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) parking enforcement platform, which is deployed by municipalities, universities, hospitals, and private parking operators across North America.
This policy is governed by Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, Ontario's provincial privacy legislation. We also acknowledge obligations that may arise under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users accessing our Website from within the EU.
We collect a minimal amount of information when you interact with our Website.
When you submit an inquiry through our contact form, we collect:
This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any marketing list or share your details with third parties without your consent.
Our Website is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, including Amazon CloudFront (CDN). AWS infrastructure may automatically log standard web server data, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and date/time of access. This is standard practice for any web server and is used solely for security monitoring, performance analysis, and diagnosing technical issues.
Our Website uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors. No personally identifiable information is collected through this service. We do not use Meta Pixel or any third-party advertising technology. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use the personal information you provide only for the following purposes:
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the above.
This section is intended for transparency about how data flows within the autoChalk® platform. It is relevant to our customers (organizations that have licensed our software) rather than to members of the public visiting this website.
Each customer organization that deploys autoChalk® retains full ownership of all data collected through their system. Tannery Creek acts as a data processor on behalf of each customer, not as a data controller of that data. Customers are responsible for ensuring their own use of the platform complies with applicable privacy laws and for maintaining an appropriate privacy policy for their enforcement programs.
Every customer operates within a completely isolated environment. Each organization has its own dedicated database and web services infrastructure. No data — of any kind — is ever shared between separate customer organizations. It is architecturally impossible for one customer's data to be accessed by another.
By default, autoChalk® camera vehicles transmit only issued citation information — records that have been reviewed and acted upon by an enforcement officer. Raw licence plate scan data is not automatically streamed to any cloud or central server during normal operation.
Customers may optionally configure their system to upload raw scan data to their own private autoChalk® cloud database for operational or compliance purposes. When enabled, this data is stored within the customer's isolated environment (see above), is subject to the customer's own retention policies, and is never shared with any third-party licence plate repository.
This privacy-by-design architecture distinguishes autoChalk® from systems that continuously stream scan data to centralized, shared cloud databases.
Some customers choose to integrate their autoChalk® deployment with third-party systems (such as payment processors, permit management platforms, or municipal data systems). Tannery Creek will only facilitate such integrations upon receipt of written authorization from the customer. We do not share customer data with any third party proactively or without explicit documented consent from the data-owning organization.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host our Website and process contact form submissions. AWS acts as a data processor under our direction and is contractually bound to appropriate data protection standards. Contact form emails are delivered via Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). No other third-party service providers receive your personal information from our Website.
We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or lawful request from a government authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tannery Creek, our customers, or the public.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected individuals prior to any such transfer where required by law.
We retain contact form submissions and related correspondence for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (typically the duration of a sales conversation or business relationship), and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and administrative purposes.
AWS server logs are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes and are not used for any other purpose.
You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at the address below.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our Website is served exclusively over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Contact form data is transmitted securely and processed by serverless functions without being written to persistent storage beyond what is delivered to our email inbox.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may additionally have rights under the GDPR including the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 10.
If you are seeking access to, or correction of, licence plate or citation data collected as part of a parking enforcement program, please contact the enforcement agency or property manager responsible for that program directly. Tannery Creek is not the data controller for that information and cannot fulfill such requests on behalf of our customers.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the handling of your personal information, please contact us:
We will respond to all privacy-related inquiries within 30 days of receipt, as required under PIPEDA.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our Website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
We're committed to transparency. If you have any concerns about how we handle personal information, our team is happy to help.
